Introduction

Setting

Be prepared for a rural and rustic wedding at our house in the Santa Cruz Mountains under the redwoods.  We have taken great care in making our property beautiful for this special occasion and are happy to welcome you to our home. Be ready for a good time in the dirt and under the trees with simple elegance! We're so glad that you're coming!

Thanks to Kelly for the writing and research involved in this website. Thanks to Garth for the beautiful website design, pictures, and hand-drawn maps.

We have received many questions about whether or not our celebrity cats will be attending the ceremony in bowties. Because we are expecting over 100 guests, we think this will be too much excitement for our beloved pets, so they will be seeking peace inside the house. You're welcome to get autographs later!

Alcohol

There will be alcohol served at the wedding. We want everyone to have a good time, but we also want everyone to be safe. The mountain roads near our house and Hwy 17 (required to get to our house from nearly all of our recommended lodging options) are dangerous, especially in adverse weather (unlikely in June, but possible), and at night. If you plan to drink, please have a designated driver ahead of time, arrange for an Uber/Lyft, or Garth and Kelly can help you become part of a carpool with a sober driver staying in the same lodge or close-by. If you have no other options, please speak to Kelly and Garth and we will be happy to arrange for you to stay at our house the night of the wedding.

Traffic

  • traffic in the summer months, and especially on the weekends in the Bay Area, is considerable

  • there will likely be beach traffic on Hwy 17 on your way into the wedding and on your return from the wedding

  • we recommend leaving at least an hour to get to our house from the Santa Cruz/Capitola and San Jose areas

  • leave at least 45 minutes to get to our house from Los Gatos

  • if you are staying at an airbnb, exact driving times will vary

  • the return drive will likely require similar time

  • check your map apps well in advance on the day of the wedding for accurate driving times

Contact

  • if you have questions about anything on this website, need help making arrangements for the wedding, or want to help us (welcome - ha ha) reach out

  • logistical and organizational questions are best directed to Kelly

Airports/Transportation to Lodging

house photo.jpg
Untitled_Artwork 21.png
Rides/Car Rentals

  • the closest airport to our house is San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) - about 30 minutes without traffic

  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO) sometimes offers less expensive flight options than SJC - 50 minutes from our house without traffic

  • if you fly into SFO, we suggest staying closer to our house at some of the places listed below Santa Cruz Lodging, Los Gatos Lodging or San Jose Airport/Airbnb

  • rental cars are available at both SJC and SFO

  • if opting for an Airbnb in Felton, Boulder Creek, or Scott's Valley, public transit and Uber/Lyft may be expensive or unavailable and you will need to rent a car

Uber/Lyft/Taxi

  • get an Uber/Lyft or taxi from SJC to your lodging - expensive if you need to get to Santa Cruz/Capitola (see public transit options below), but reasonable to Los Gatos and San Jose lodging options

  • Uber/Lyft not recommended if you are flying into SFO and staying closer to our home (quite expensive - see public transportation below)

Public Transit

  • buses available at SJC and BART/CalTrain available at SFO

  • To get from SJC to Santa Cruz or vice versa on public transit, first get to the San Jose Diridon Train Station

  • Then the Hwy 17 bus will take you from San Jose to Santa Cruz and vice versa and you can take local buses or Uber/Lyft from there to your final destination, or possibly even walk. Click Highway 17 on the drop down menu in this link

  • Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART - the Bay Area's subway system) and CalTrain will take you from SFO into San Jose,  then you can take the Hwy 17 bus if proceeding to Santa Cruz, and/or take local buses or Uber/Lyft to your final destination in Los Gatos, San Jose, or Santa Cruz/Capitola â€‹

  • if you need help navigating the public transit system, reach out to Kelly and she will be happy to help (951) 529-1191

Getting to the Wedding

Untitled_Artwork 21 copy.png

While we live in the Santa Cruz Mountains and it feels remote up here, we are also only a mile from Highway 17 and only 15 minutes from Los Gatos without traffic. Santa Cruz and Capitola are about 20-30 minutes away without traffic, depending on where exactly you stay within those cities. San Jose is also about 30 minutes away without traffic. Many of our guests will need to arrange for lodging (Santa Cruz Lodging, Los Gatos Lodging or San Jose Airport/Airbnb) and, depending on their travel distance, can either bring their own car, rent a car, or arrange for an Uber or Lyft (see options below).

As the event approaches, friends and family can arrange to carpool together as many may be staying in the same hotels or hotels that are close to each other. Garth and Kelly will be happy to help coordinate carpooling as the event gets closer. Just let us know what you need on your RSVP survey and we can put you in touch with other friends and family of ours that can help.

Uber and Lyft

  • believe it or not, Uber and Lyft do come to our house and will pick you up at our house

  • a one-way ride into or from Los Gatos to our house (when we created this website in January) will range from about $16-$30

  • a one-way ride into or from the Santa Cruz area to our house (when we created this website in January) will range from $25-$42 dollars

  • prices will likely be more expensive on a Saturday during the summer, but still manageable

Car Rentals

  • there are options for car rentals at both the San Jose and SFO Airports

  • if you need to rent a car once you are in Los Gatos, there is a Hertz  and a Zipcar rental facility within a ten-minute drive from downtown Los Gatos, where the lodging options we are suggesting for our guests are located â€‹

  • if you are staying in the Santa Cruz/Capitola area, there are Thrifty, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise, Avis, and Zipcar rental facilities near the lodging we are suggesting for guests

  • there are no options for car rentals in Capitola, and if you need to rent a car in Capitola, one will have to be procured at an airport or in Santa Cruz.

LODGING IN SANTA CRUZ AND CAPITOLA

Santa Cruz is definitely a fun place to stay and touristed heavily in the summer months as a famous surf town. Garth and Kelly also met at UC Santa Cruz and we still love going to the beaches, the Boardwalk, the movies, dinner, and bowling in Santa Cruz, either with Garth’s parents or just by ourselves. Santa Cruz also offers excellent options for public transit and is very walkable and bikeable. You cannot take public transit directly to our house from Santa Cruz or Capitola, however. Check out things to do while you are in Capitola here and check out things to do while you are in Santa Cruz here. Because it is a popular destination for tourists, most of the options for lodging are pretty expensive, but we have found a few in that area that are more affordable. Both these options would be about 30 minutes from our house without traffic. We recommend booking as soon as possible because vacancies fill up very quickly in the summer.

santa-cruz-downtown-mike-healey.jpg

Santa Cruz Hostel is not likely to meet all of our guest’s demands, but it is more upscale than an average hostel. It is a historical building and is clean and cute too! Kelly's friends have stayed here and had wonderful experiences.

• rooms start at $138 a night

• might be a good option for groups or families

• private rooms are able to accommodate anywhere from 3-5

people, but 1 or 2 people could stay in a private room as well

• there is also one private cabin available that can sleep a very large group for a larger cost

• linens and towels provided

• coin laundry

• free wifi

• metered parking during the day and free parking at night

• access to shared kitchen

• access to garden patio and fire pit

• access to ping pong table and barbeque

• no pets allowed

Monarch Cove Inn is in Capitola, which is just south of Santa Cruz. It is also very cute, within walking distance of the beach and Capitola Village, and has excellent reviews. It is located on historic Depot Hill, has gardens, is near a Monarch butterfly habitat, and has views of the Monterey Bay. There are lots of nice restaurants and shops in the nearby Capitola Village. This option is more pricey than the Santa Cruz Hostel, but still reasonable for this popular destination in the summer time.

• private cottages start at $218 a night

• private cottages are each a unique part of a Victorian

mansion built in 1895 and can accommodate 1-4 people

• private entry in each room

• pets are allowed in certain cottages for an additional fee

• special accommodations, including wine, chocolates, and

dinner reservations can be arranged upon request

Each room also comes with…

• wifi

• private parking

• breakfast in each room

LODGING IN LOS GATOS

The following options are in Los Gatos, which is the closest town to where we live. It’s also charming and a bit fancy. It would be anywhere from about 12-20 minutes of driving time from our house without traffic, depending on which lodging option you choose. Garth and his parents all attended Los Gatos High School and Kelly has worked at several restaurants in Los Gatos. Several celebrities have been acquainted with Los Gatos as well: John Steinbeck lived in Los Gatos and Charlie Chaplin visited it while filming in Niles Canyon, near Fremont. There are lots of good restaurants and shops in downtown Los Gatos, as well as the Cinelux Los Gatos Theater (movie theater) and Vasona Lake County Park. Los Gatos is additionally a very dog-friendly town and offers lots of parks and places to walk and eat with your dog. Check out other things to do while you are in Los Gatos here. While this is an affluent town, the Los Gatos Lodge and Los Gatos Garden Inn lodging options described below are nice and reasonably priced. We recommend booking your stay as soon as possible because vacancies fill up quickly during the summer.

Los Gatos Lodge offers a peaceful setting with unique architectural elements within walking distance of downtown Los Gatos and it is also very close to Hwy 17. This is about 15 minutes from the San Jose Airport without traffic and about 15 minutes from our house. It is also down the street from Los Gatos Garden Inn (see below), where other guests may be staying.

Group Discount for Wedding Guests

Kelly has arranged for a group discount for our wedding guests who opt to stay at Los Gatos Lodge. The Los Gatos Lodge will not set aside any rooms, but group discounts for our wedding are as follows, as long as there are vacancies. • Standard Garden View King $139 + tax

• Standard 2 Double Beds Garden View $149 + tax

• Suite King $169 + tax

• Suite with 2 Double Beds $199 + tax

LODGING NEAR THE SAN JOSE AIRPORT

  • lots of affordable and more standard (Hilton/Holiday Inn, etc.) lodging options near the San Jose Airport - the closest airport to our house (about 25-30 minutes without traffic)

  • San Jose is not as quaint as Santa Cruz, Capitola, or Los Gatos, but it will put you in the heart of the Silicon Valley and will be easy to access from the airport

  • San Jose offers an urban environment with tons of options for public transit (light rail, buses, and CalTrain), restaurants, live music, and museums

  • San Jose State University is nearby, where Kelly earned her teaching credential

  • options for rental cars at the San Jose Airport

  •  you should also be able to get an Uber/Lyft from the San Jose Airport to our house without a problem or contact Kelly and she will be happy to arrange for a carpool for you with other guests staying nearby

  • Check out things to do nearby during your stay in San Jose here.

AIRBNB AND VACATION RENTALS

There are a wide variety of charming and affordable options near our home in different areas. If you choose to stay in an Airbnb or vacation rental in the Santa Cruz Mountains near our home in Scott's Valley, Felton, or Boulder Creek, these options will likely be under the beautiful redwoods for which this area is famous. Be advised, however, that you will likely also have to drive on twisty mountain roads. These roads contain multitudes of wild life and are largely unlit at night. These roads are plenty safe if you take it slow, arrange for a sober driver, and are alert and aware. These locations will likely also require a rental car, as they may be too remote for public transit or Uber/Lyft. If you need any help finding an Airbnb or vacation rental, contact Kelly (951) 529-1191.

  • most of the options in Scott's Valley, Felton, and Boulder Creek are under the redwoods

  • there are also more traditional homes and rooms for daily rent in the Los Gatos and San Jose areas

  • there are also affordable options in Santa Cruz and San Jose, each about 30 minutes from our house without traffic

  • depending on your needs, you could rent a room or airstream for just one person, a cottage for a couple, or a whole house for a family or large group

  • Check out things to do nearby during your stay here and scroll down to the appropriate section depending on where your Airbnb is located and what you would like to see during your stay.

Things To Do Nearby During Your Stay

Capitola is a charming seaside city just south of Santa Cruz. It offers many of the benefits of Santa Cruz (restaurants, shops, and beaches) with less busy conditions, but still plenty of crowds and things to do. If you are staying at Monarch Cove Inn, the Capitola Village and Capitola Beach will be within walking distance! Here you'll find charming shops with beachy knick knacks, souvenirs, and other artsy items, as well as clothing stores all right along the beach! There are also many places to eat in the village and on 41st Avenue, including our favorites, Verve Coffee Roasters (on 41st Avenue), Zelda's on the Beach (a casual spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with great views of the ocean and wharf), Pizza My Heart (a local chain in the village for a quick slice of pizza or a whole pie), and Discretion Brewery (a local microbrewery on 41st Avenue with beers on tap and American food). If you are staying in Capitola and want to check out all that Santa Cruz has to offer as well, it is a short drive or Uber away. You can also take a Santa Cruz Metro bus into Santa Cruz from Capitola. Los Gatos is also about a 45 minute drive away on average and San Jose is about an hour drive away on average.

Santa Cruz  is one of the most touristed places in the South Bay Area for a good reason! Kelly chose Santa Cruz for her undergraduate destination, Garth has lived in this area for almost his whole life, and Kelly and Garth met and fell in love here! Santa Cruz is still our favorite place to go for a date night, hanging out with friends, or having fun with Garth's parents! You can find a lot to do in the Main Beach area, which has the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and municipal wharf and on Pacific Avenue, the downtown area with where you can find a lot of shops and great places to eat. Here are some of our favorite and most recommended spots in the area:

Restaurants

  • Coffee: Sadly, the Peet's Coffee where Kelly worked in college is no longer in business, but Verve (on Pacific Avenue) and Cat and Cloud (on the north end of town near Natural Bridges beach) are two great local spots for coffee, both specializing in light roasts and espresso drinks.

  • Breakfast: Zachary's is one of the only breakfast places in town that is left from Garth and Kelly's college days. It's a local small business on Pacific Avenue and just as good as ever, but you may have to wait for a table. We recommend the Mike's Mess for a truly local breakfast experience. Linda's Seabreeze Cafe is a breakfast spot near Seabright Beach that we have discovered more recently that offers indoor and outdoor seating in a small, charming atmosphere with traditional breakfast plates and unique specials. Harbor Cafe is right by Main Beach/the boardwalk and only a few blocks away if you are staying at the Santa Cruz Hostel. Kelly used to eat here with her good friend and roommate in college when they lived right across the parking lot. Walnut Avenue Cafe is on Pacific Avenue and has been in town since Kelly and Garth's college days. They offer traditional breakfast plates in an old-fashioned, casual setting, and you may have to wait for a table.

  • Lunch or Dinner: Garth and Kelly tend to like Mexican food and comfort food when they go out in Santa Cruz. Kelly worked at El Palomar (on Pacific Avenue) when she first met Garth, and Olita's (on the municipal wharf near Main Beach) is our favorite spot to go with Garth's parents for Taco Tuesday and Taco Thursday, to catch the sunset and watch the ocean, and to have quality Mexican food. Don't forget to visit the sea lions!

Things to Do Nearby Santa Cruz
Seal-1024x683.jpg

  • Treats: Pacific Cookie Company (on Pacific Avenue) is a great cookie company with a lot of traditional and local cookies, hot chocolate, and ice cream, while Marianne's (one location near Hwy 17 on Ocean Street) has been a local ice cream stop with a large selection since before Kelly and Garth were in college.

Shopping

  • Most of the local and chain shops in Santa Cruz are on Pacific Avenue in the downtown area, where many of the places to eat we recommended are too, including Verve, Zachary'sWalnut Avenue CafeEl PalomarBetty's Burgers, and Pacific Cookie CompanyYou could easily spend half a day perusing places to eat and shop here. You'll find clothing stores, bookshops, surf stores, and hippy-type stores and can enjoy shopping outside in the sunshine! The Santa Cruz Cinema and the Del Mar are two movie theares in the downtown area and plenty of paid parking options. Pacific Avenue is about a mile's walk from Main Beach and the Santa Cruz Hostel. â€‹

Beaches

  • There are plenty of beaches to explore and relax on in Santa Cruz, but Seabright Beach and Natural Bridges are Kelly and Garth's favorites.

  • Seabright Beach is just south of Main Beach by the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the peer (very crowded, but another fun and highly accessible option). Kelly and Garth like to go to Seabright to relax in the sun, have a picnic, get some work done in a peaceful setting, and fly kites. Garth likes to paint here too! The Natural History Museum is also only about a block away! It offers information about indigenous plants, animals, peoples, and eco regions in the Santa Cruz area ($4 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, free for children). Linda's Seabreeze Cafe is a great breakfast spot nearby.

downtown_santacruz_3-1024x768.jpg

  • Natural Bridges is on the north end of Santa Cruz and does not tend to be as crowded. This is a great place to see monarch butterflies roosting in the eucalyptus trees during the winter months, but the stone arches right offshore (namesake for the beach) and the trees just off the sand make for a serene setting any time of the year. We recommend Cat and Cloud as a nearby spot for coffee.

  • There are also other less crowded beaches a little further north on Hwy 1 and a little further south in Capitola and Aptos.

Other Activities (Part of a Day or All Day)

87266280_10159527317863378_954144362244079616_o-1.jpg

  • Main Beach: The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is the most popular destination in town during the summer months. Have a blast riding the Giant Dipper (the most famous roller coaster there), other timeless rides, like the Cave Train and bumper cars, and eating fair food with views of the ocean the whole time! The Boardwalk has been around for over 125 years, is a California historical landmark, and is one of the only operating beach boardwalks left in the state. You can buy a wristband to stay for the whole day, buy rides in small increments, pay per ride at the various ticket vending stations on site, or simply walk around, enjoy the crowds and shops, and get a treat! Boardwalk Bowl is across the street from the boardwalk and is open late, and The Harbor Cafe is also across the street for breakfast. Olita's is a great place for margaritas, lunch, or dinner, on the municipal wharf nearby, and you can hear and watch the delightful California sea lions who tend to hang out on the beams under the wharf. If you're looking to extend your day in the area, walk or bike up West Cliff Drive, watch the surfers from above at iconic Steamer's Lane along the way, and go as far as Natural Bridges, if you want, before heading back.

  • UC Santa Cruz Campus and Arboretum: Explore the campus where Kelly and Garth got their bachelors degrees and first met in an art class during the summer of 2006. Kelly made an intentional move to this area to be in the trees, while Garth has always called this area home. Kelly and Garth are both proud to be banana slugs (the famous campus mascot) and look very fondly on their years in college here. Sign up for a tour of the campus or enjoy a lovely hike (this will involve some cardio!) around the campus on your own. There are free campus shuttles and paid buses that also take you around the campus. Be sure to check out the student union and bookstore, as well as Science Hill. If you are interested in exploring the different colleges, Kelly was a Merrill College student who studied psychology and lived there in the dorms during her freshman year, while Garth was a Porter College student who studied art and astronomy. While you are on campus, you can also see the UCSC Arboretum (free with a suggested donation) that has plant species from various regions around the world and offers nice views of the ocean.

  • Other Fun Activities in Santa Cruz: There is classic a roller skating rink that is fun for any age at the Santa Cruz Roller Paladium in the midtown area.

  • If you are interested in other options, Los Gatos is about a 15 minute drive away on average and Santa Cruz and Capitola are about a 30-45 minute drive away on average.

Los Gatos Even though it is a relatively small town, Los Gatos has a lot of charm and plenty to do. If you are staying at any of the three lodges we suggested in Los Gatos, downtown Los Gatos on N. Santa Cruz Avenue is either a few blocks away or right outside the door! This is where most of the interesting things to do in Los Gatos are located, including shopping and restaurants. Los Gatos is an affluent town, so many of the shops on N. Santa Cruz Ave. are on the pricey side. Depending on your preferences and budget, these could be just the thing for you, or at least worth browsing! Los Gatos also boasts a lot of fine restaurants and wine bars. Our favorite spots tend to be a bit more casual and affordable. For coffee, Garth and his friends often spent time at Great Bear Coffee in high school and both of us still pop in on occasion, or if light roasts are your style, Blue Bottle Coffee is a chain based in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York that has a location at 29 University Avenue (just off of N. Santa Cruz Ave).  If you're looking for breakfast, we can highly recommend Southern Kitchen, which has been a Los Gatos staple for decadent, Southern-style breakfasts and brunch for over 20 years (on Main Street, just off of N. Santa Cruz Ave.). For small bites and local beer, we like Out of the Barrel Taproom or Hapa's Brewing Company, each located on opposite ends of the downtown area. For lunch or dinner, we recommend Loma Brewing Company (American food and microbrews) or Andale Mexican Kitchen for Mexican food, and Oak & Rye for pizza. If you're looking for a treat, we can recommend either Icing on the Cake on Main Street for cupcakes and bakery items or Salt & Straw at 50 University Ave. for traditional and gourmet/unique ice cream flavors. If you want to explore a little further, drive into Santa Cruz or Capitola for the day, or take an Uber to the San Jose Diridon Station and catch the Hwy 17 bus. Click Highway 17 on the drop down menu in this link. You can also drive to San Jose (about a 15 minute drive away on average).

San Jose San Jose is one of the largest cities in California, so it has a lot of urban activities to offer, as well as abundant public transit via Valley Transit Authority (VTA), including buses, a light-rail, and CalTrain. One way to spend the day in San Jose is to take a tour of San Jose State University (via an arranged campus tour or on your own) and/or visit the Tech Interactive Museum (a great option for families with different educational video screenings and hands-on learning activities every day). You can then explore the diverse range of restaurants and shops in the downtown or San Pedro Square Market areas nearby both of these locations. Another idea is to take public transit, drive a car, or take an Uber from the downtown or SJC airport areas to explore the high-end shops at Santana Row and Valley Fair Mall (across the street from Santana Row). You can also take a tour of the Winchester Mystery House, the legendary labyrinthine haunted mansion of mystery, then try our favorite restaurant in the general San Jose area: Falafel's Drive-In. All four of these options are either on or just off of Steven's Creek Blvd. on the west side of San Jose, not too far from the downtown/San Jose State area and could easily be done in one day.

Falafel's is a classic drive-in serving middle eastern food that has been in San Jose since 1966, and it was even featured on Guy Fieri's DinersDrive-Ins, and Dives show.  Although it is called a drive-in, you technically need to park in the parking lot nearby and then walk up to the window and order. There are picnic tables outside on the patio for dining and some tables inside as well. We definitely recommend the Large Falafel with Banana Shake (made with real bananas - delish), which we usually split with some fries, but you could get your own if you're really hungry. If you want more options for things to explore, Los Gatos is about a15 minutes drive away (on average) and Santa Cruz and Capitola are about a 45 minute to hour drive away.

Options Further Away in California: If you are planning on staying in California a little longer before or after our wedding, or are just up for venturing out a little further during a shorter stay in California, here are some of our other suggestions for some common tourist stops in the Bay Area and in the state of California in general:

  • San Francisco is about one hour north from the wedding and offers endless options for things to do in an iconic and historical city. Some of the most common tourist activities include the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Fisherman's Wharf, China Town, Golden Gate Park, the San Francisco Zoo, Lombard Street, and/or visiting some of endless museums and excellent restaurants in the city.

  • Monterey is about one hour south from the wedding and Carmel is just a bit further down the coast. Monterey is one of the most beautiful seaside towns in California and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and the Steinbeck Center (nearby in Salinas) are some of the most frequented attractions in the area. Monterey also offers glass bottom boat tours of the Monterey Bay (a marine sanctuary) as well as restaurants and shops on and near the wharf. Carmel-by-the-Sea (Carmel) is a smaller seaside city just south of Monterey with gorgeous beaches and upscale shops and restaurants. It's famous for 17 Mile Drive and the Pebble Beach Golf Course. No matter what you do in Carmel or Monterey, both offer California Central Coast beauty at its best and are lovely places to just take in the views and relax.

  • Big Sur Coastline: If you continue south of Carmel and Monterey, you will soon come to the iconic coastal area called Big Sur. The coastline for the next hour or so is one of the most beautiful drives in the country! Drive carefully on the twists and turns, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and rugged coastline below. This is one of the few places you may spot California condors, as well as sea otters, sea lions, and possibly whales, if you're lucky. There are many places to pull over and enjoy the views, grab a bite to eat at a charming restaurant, or check out some local arts and crafts. There are many places to camp along the coastline, but you typically need a reservation well in advance .

  • State Parks Nearby: There are a number of California State Parks within 30 minutes to an hour of the wedding, depending on where you go. The closest state parks, all of which offer nature walks, hiking trails, and information about the local coast redwoods, include Big Basin State Park (heavily impacted by the CZU fires in 2020), Portola Redwoods State Park, Butano State Park, The Forest of Nisene Marks, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and Castle Rock State Park. If you are interested in beaches, Wilder Ranch State Park and Año Nuevo State Park (breeding grounds for elephant seals in the late fall and winter months) are good options nearby.

  • National Parks: California has the most National Parks of any state in America. Garth and Kelly love going to National Parks and have been to nearly all of them in California. Some of the ones in this state that we recommend for the diverse beauty that California offers are Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Lassen National Park, and Redwood National & State Parks.

  • Other Coastal Cities and Attractions: California is definitely famous for its beautiful cities along the coast, with Santa Cruz being one of them. If you are interested in taking a drive south or catching a flight, be aware that the iconic Big Sur Coast is closed to public access because of slides along Hwy 1 that are currently being repaired. However, some of the coastal cities that we recommend the most are San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, and Santa Barbara. If you want to venture even further south, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego offer endless opportunities for urban and natural activities, including Disneyland!
